My Cleancut Doesn't Seem To Be Doing A Very Good Job, Are There Any Adjustments I Can Make?
If it seems that your Cleancut is not performing as expected right out of the box, or if over a long period of usage you find it’s not performing as well as it once did then you may need to adjust the height of the blade assembly. Before you assume this to be the case PLEASE MAKE SURE you're using the unit as directed. We've found that by far the biggest source of trouble - in fact probably about 99% of the time - is when a customer uses the Cleancut without powder. Why anyone would do that is a mystery to us, except sometimes folks just don't bother to read our instructions. We can't stress enough how important it is to follow the directions to achieve the best results so please click here to review our usage instructions.
The Cleancut™ blade assembly height adustment is calibrated at the factory for optimum performance. On very rare occasions it can be slightly “off” or over time may either drift out of calibration or need to be tweaked because of blade wear. In any case it's a simple adjustment and is very easy to do, all you will need is a small, flat-blade jeweler’s screwdriver like the ones commonly used to adjust eyeglasses.
To Be Completely Safe We Always Recommend That You Remove The Battery Before Cleaning Your Cleancut™ Or Making Any Adjustments.
1. First unscrew the foil head from the shaver’s body by turning it in a counter clockwise direction. If they're dirty from use with hair trimmings and powder you should clean the foil, blades and reservoir before continuing on.
2. Remove the white plastic blade assembly by simply lifting it from the white plastic drive shaft.
3. While firmly holding the white plastic blade assembly, use your jeweler’s screwdriver to turn the small screw in the CENTER of the blade assembly clockwise about 1/8th to 1/4th of a turn. This will position the screw a little further down into the assembly, so when the pieces are reassembled the screw pushes against the drive shaft and slightly raises the blade assembly against the inside of the foil. Be extra careful while handling the blade assembly as the blades are sharp!
4. Reassemble and turn on the Cleancut. The blade assembly should spin smoothly but you should hear it whirring against the inside of the foil. If you don't hear metal to metal contact it isn't touching the inside surface of the foil, the result being either it won't shave at all or it will grab and pull. If the blade assembly binds and spins slowly (or not at all) you have raised the blades too high. Disassemble and lower the blade assembly by turning the screw slightly in a counter-clockwise direction to lower it.
5. You'll most likely be able to tell by ear when the blade assembly is properly adjusted, it will just sound "right." Test the unit on a patch of stubble - don't forget to use powder! - and make sure it's performing properly. If not you may want to continue fine-tuning it until you get it adjusted to where it seems right to you.
6. If no matter what you do your Cleancut doesn’t seem to be cutting properly then email us with the details and we’ll do our best to help, or if it's still within our 30 day guarantee period we'll either replace it or give you a refund. This is a very unlikely scenario but no matter what we stand behind our products.
If you have been using the unit with success in the past but now it just doesn’t seem to be shaving as well you may need to replace the foil and blade assembly. We offer the Seiko K-30SP Replacement Parts Kit for $25.00 which includes a new foil, a new blade assembly and a new plastic protective cap. For proper operation you may need to adjust the new blade assembly you get in the parts kit using these same instructions, but most likely it will work fine right out of the package.
7. Even with hard daily use you should get at least 6 months out of the foil and blade assembly. Typical life expectancy is one year with regular usage. |
